From our family to yours
Theodore Clapp founded Clapp Motors on Spring Street in Jeffersonville, Indiana in 1934. In 1941, Theodore moved the company to Court Avenue in Jeffersonville where it operated for the next thirty-four years. Theodore's son, G.W. Clapp, Sr., became manager in 1945 and later the "dealer" at Theodore's death. By the 1970's the Company was outgrowing its Court Avenue location. In 1975 we moved to our current "home" on Lewis & Clark Parkway in Clarksville, Indiana. In 1976 G.W. Clapp, Sr. semi-retired, and his children, Janet Abell and G.W. Clapp, Jr. ("Jerry"), took over the family business. G.W. Clapp, Sr. passed away in 1986 and JanetAbell passed away in 1991, leaving Jerry sole responsibility for the dealership. Since that time Clapp Oldsmobile has grown into Clapp Auto Group, inc. Jerry purchased the Volkswagen franchise in 1996 and it has proven to be a great addition to our family.
Today, as in 1934, Clapp Auto Group, Inc. strives to remain a respected and friendly member of our community. We are proud of our reputation for fair dealing and good customer relations. You can be confident in your decision to shop with us. We will stand behind the products that we sell and be here for many more years to come in order to assist in your automotive needs.
